Midtown Flagship Store with Café, Manhattan

We were able to fit three different programs, two-stories of a cafe/restaurant, two-stories of retail and two-stories of office space in a building with an incredibly small footprint. Despite the size of the lot and the street frontage, the client’s desire was to make this mid-block building be very visible from both corners of the street block. We were able to achieve that by sculpting the all glass front facade of the building with facets in four different angles to create more visibility towards the two street corners. We introduced a bright red color “inner liner” for the panelized exterior wall cladding which reveals itself as the outer portion of the exterior skin slides back. Thus this red liner frame enclosure stretches the scale of the storefront to the entire height of the building.
