Eddie’s Bar & Grill, Midtown Manhattan, NY
For the interior gut renovation of a new Spanish-Celtic bar and grill restaurant, the design centers around the idea of creating a vintage, well-aged ambiance, as if the establishment has been a neighborhood staple for years. The project encompasses a narrow, long space with seating for 50 guests, featuring a long bar in the front and a seated dining area toward the back. Key to the design is the liquor storage shelving, which is integrated as a continuous architectural feature. Overhead shelving wraps around the interior, blending seamlessly with the bar’s back wall, emphasizing a cohesive aesthetic throughout the restaurant.
The material selection plays a vital role in establishing the desired atmosphere. Pre-patinated metals, reclaimed wood, and distressed bricks are utilized to evoke a sense of history and character. This thoughtful use of materials reflects a rustic, timeless charm while maintaining modern functionality. The careful arrangement of shelving and fixtures not only serves practical purposes but also enhances the visual flow of the space, guiding the guests' gaze across the length of the restaurant. The overall design captures the essence of a traditional, long-standing establishment, creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience for patrons.
